What would you do if someone used something you created without giving you credit?

Plagarism is a very big issue in professional world. If you use someone else's work or ideas you need to give them credit. This happen to me before and it is a very unpleasant experience. When I worked at a job ,and the staff were asked to give ideas to make the office run more smoothely. I came up the a great idea to lessen the paperwork we had coming in . Before going to speak to my supervisor I spoke to another employee to see what she thought of the idea. She told she did know about it working so I did'nt bring it up to my boss. Later that week we had our team meeting and the boss spoke of a great idea she had gotten from the employee. It was the same idea I had. I was both shocked and upset. I could'nt believe she would pass off my idea as hers and not even give me credit. I waited about a day to see if she would say anything to me about it but she never did. So I spoke to my boss I let her know that I came up with the idea and that only one I told was the empolyee. My boss liked that I was honest and at the next team meeting she let everyone I came up with the idea. I felt a lot better and I learned a valuable lesson .When you have an idea dont hold back let the person who came make it happen know so you receive credit. And for people who use others work or ideas make sure you give credit where credit due.
